Style Icon: Taylor Swift

This week I chose to write about a style icon of mine; Taylor Swift. I have always admired her style, but with her somewhat recent release of 1989, I think her style game has just gone to a completely new level. She is really into the crop tops and cut outs. I think these are definitely major trends that are present today. She wear a lot of matching sets, which are increasing in popularity- especially printed sets.

Look 1:
For the first look, I based it off an outfit Taylor wore to the SNL 40th anniversary. I really love the color blue she's wearing. I really think it fits her well. In keeping with that color, I chose a crop top of the same kind. I paired it with a white midi skirt to keep with her crop top looks. A simple piece of jewelry helps bring together the outfit. The shoes I chose to add something interesting to help make a statement. The outfit is pretty simplistic, so the shoes add something to it and attracts your eye.

Look 2:

I styled my second look based off a crop top and skirt set she wore at a concert. I really liked the cut out, so I chose a crop top with cut outs as well. I paired it with a flounce midi skirt. Midi skirts are definitely becoming more and more popular so I substituted it with that rather than a traditional high-waisted short skirt. I kept both the jewelry and shoes quite simple so that the look is mainly focused in on the top.

Look 3:
My final (and favorite) look is based off a look Taylor wore to a press release event for her 1989 album. I really liked the set she wore. Based off that, I chose the one above. I like the cut outs covered with mesh in the skirt. I added a pair of pink heels for a bright pop of color! This outfit is perfect for spring and even summer! Add a pair of sunglasses like the ones above to pull the look all together!

Overalls Are Back!

Overalls Are Back!

I used to dread seeing people wear overalls. I remember growing up, my Mother would occasionally wear a pair from when she was in her 20s and I absolutely hated it! My opinion of them, although, has changed dramatically. I have seen them in past seasons, but they really never picked up popularity. I think they are here to stay now though. I'm seeing them in all the major fast fashion retailers. I really like pairing overalls with a crop top. You can wear a patterned top in order to add something more to the look. Sometimes, it even looks good to unhook one of the straps. It gives the outfit a little something more. Whatever you do make sure to keep it fun! These overalls are youthful and make a big statement!

Bikini Season!

Blog Post 8- Bikini Season!

The semester is dwindling down and summer is slowly creeping up. It's, for some of us, the most dreaded season of the year: bikini season. Sometimes people forget that there are new trends out there every season! There's more to it than just your traditional one piece or bikini! Some key trends I expect to see this summer are strappy bikinis, high-waisted bottoms, halter tops, a lot of cut outs, and flounce tops! I'm already starting to see all these trends out there in the stores. Personally, I find the halter top the most interesting. These looks are all so easy and you can mix and match. Want to wear high waisted bottoms with a halter top? Go for it. The options are endless!

Coachella Vibes

Coachella Vibes
What better to do on this miserable rainy day than to dream of Coachella? The things I would do to be there right now. It's weekend two of the annual musical festival and it inspired me to make this set. The fashion at these festivals always intrigues me. It without a doubt has a major California vibe, but you don't have to be at Coachella to wear these things! This past summer I think there were a lot of festival inspired looks and I believe that it will definitely carry onto this summer. This style is very laid back and simple. There's a lot of fringe, lace, and destroyed denim. Add something more to your denim shorts by putting on sew on or iron on embellishments (those are going to be big this up coming season). The shorts and crop tops are perfect for the daytime concerts and as it starts getting cooler at night the pants are perfect to wear with crop tops.  They have a lot of movement to them and won't slow you down as you dance the nights away at these music festivals! If it gets very cool add a loose cardigan or kimono to keep yourself warm! Jewelry is also a major part to these looks. Coin jewelry is very big and it gives of a major festival feel. Backpacks are satchels are perfect to put all your things in to carry around for the day. Not only are they functional but they add a major statement to your outfit! Add some cute booties and a hat to the outfit to top it all off.
